Percent Rose Disease

Rosacea, medically known as rosacea, is a chronic skin disease that usually manifests itself with redness, vascular prominence, pimple-like blisters and a burning sensation on the skin. Rosacea is most common on the cheeks, nose, forehead and chin and is characterized by periodic exacerbations. Although the cause of the disease is not known exactly, it is thought to be caused by a combination of genetic predisposition and environmental factors.

Why does rosacea occur?

Rosacea is caused by hypersensitivity and dilation of the skin’s vessels. Factors such as genetic predisposition, overexposure to the sun, hot drinks, spicy foods, stress and alcohol can trigger the onset of the disease. In addition, hot-cold weather changes, intense exercise and certain cosmetic products can also lead to an exacerbation of the disease. The immune system can also play a role in this process and increase the skin’s inflammatory response.

What are the Symptoms of Rosacea?

Symptoms of rosacea include persistent or temporary redness of the face, prominent veins, small red bumps and a burning or stinging sensation on the skin. Since the skin is highly sensitive, it reacts excessively to external factors. Some patients may also experience thickening of the skin and hardening of the tissue in the nasal area. Redness, dryness and irritation of the eyes can also occur with rosacea.

How to Treat Rosacea?

Different methods are used to treat rosacea depending on the type and severity of the disease and the prevalence of symptoms. Topical creams, antibiotics and oral medications can be effective in controlling rosacea. In mild cases, topical creams containing metronidazole are used to reduce redness and inflammation of the skin. In more severe cases, oral antibiotics or anti-inflammatory medications are used. In addition, laser treatments that reduce vasodilation are among the methods used in the treatment of rosacea.

Topical Creams and Medicines

In mild to moderate cases of rosacea, topical creams are effective in reducing redness and inflammation of the skin. Especially creams containing metronidazole, azelaic acid and ivermectin are frequently used in the treatment of rosacea. These creams support the barrier function of the skin while controlling inflammation. Used regularly, these products help control the disease by reducing flare-ups.

Lifestyle Changes

Since rosacea is a disease influenced by environmental factors, lifestyle changes play an important role in the treatment process. Since sunlight can exacerbate rosacea, it is essential to use sunscreen and sun protection daily. Avoiding hot drinks, spicy foods and excessive alcohol can also reduce the severity of symptoms. Using skin care products that do not irritate the skin and are specially formulated for sensitive skin also helps to keep flare-ups under control.
